The Arts and Crafts hall, designed by Gimson, was originally conceived as part of a quadrangle that was never fully realised. The Grade 1 Listed hall is widely revered as one of the finest examples of Arts and Crafts buildings in the country, yet its inability to host large student groups, sloping floor and bespoke furniture limit its function within the school. The practice developed a strategy for creating a contemporary library suite in the hall which would allow for a collaborative working area with ICT support. This provision would sit alongside the traditional quiet learning area and historic collection housed in the Memorial Library.
