Our first commission for the Abbeyfield Society was an Extra Care facility on the site of an existing Victorian farm house deemed unsuitable for the elderly tenants and beyond economic repair. The site also contained a mid-80's residential home which was also falling behind developing care standards for the elderly.
We proposed a two phase development to provide apartments for independent living, rather than the single bedroom model. The Extra Care provision also includes a large central dining room, lounge and commercial specification kitchen allows residents to congregate at the heart of the building.
